1.*harm [hɑ?m]

2.*ruin ['ru??n]
v. 毀滅，毀壞
n. 廢墟，毀壞
That guy isn’t going to ruin my life.
那個家伙不會毀了我的生活。
Years of fighting left the city in ruins.
經(jīng)年的戰(zhàn)事使得該城市滿目瘡痍。
3.*damage ['dæm?d?]
v. /n. 損壞，損害

4.wreck [rek]
v. /n. 破壞;毀壞;失事

under下面+mine礦→把下面的礦都挖了，這個地方就被“破壞”了

有些官員的無能和傲慢損害了政府的公信力。
8.hamper ['hæmp?]
vt. 妨礙
hamper traffic 阻礙交通
Fierce storms have been hampering rescue efforts.
猛烈的風雪妨礙了營救工作。
9.*hinder ['h?nd?]
hind 看作 behind 后面+ er后綴，表人→后面有個人拖后腿
vt. 阻礙
Her progress certainly hasn't been hindered by her lack of experience.
經(jīng)驗不足當然沒有妨礙她的進步。
10.*block [bl?k]
v. 封鎖，阻擋;阻止
My view was blocked by a tall man in front of me.
在我前面的那個高個子男人擋住了我的視線。
n. 塊;區(qū);障礙
The museum is just six blocks away.
博物館只有六個街區(qū)那么遠。
11.*barrier ['bær??]
bar棒/條，障礙物+ rier后綴→一個棒狀的障礙物
n. 柵欄;障礙(物)
The police put up barrier to control the crowd.
警察設(shè)置柵欄以控制人群。
trade barrier 貿(mào)易壁壘
language barrier 語言障礙
